What I’m doing now

Last updated February 2025

This page describes where I’m at now — what I’m focused on, and what I’m not. Every so often I’ll update this page

Right now

  • It is Lughnasadh, a pagan quarter day - half way between the Summer Solstice and Autumn Equinox, and I am renewing my commitment to honour these turnings of the Earth. Today I brought in the first tomatoes and picked a bucket of blackberries.

  • Alongside this familiar cycle, I am learning the seasons as observed by the Kulin nations. It is Biderap now, the dry season for Wurundjeri, and for the Djarra people just north of here it is Wi and Kurnmil, fire and snake time.

  • I am STILL finishing a large and long standing podcast project about democracy and community recovery from disaster.

  • I am listening to Hysterical and an audio book - The Seven Storey Mountain By: Thomas Merton

  • I have just started studying creative writing at Edith Cowan University, taught in intensive blocks. The first subject is Writing for Performance.

  • I am reading Hagitude by Sharon Blackie as part of a 6 month women’s circle around transitioning to elderhood.

  • I am volunteering as president/coordinator of the Macedon & Mt Macedon Landcare Group, and looking for opportunities to be involved in theatre.

  • I am working on an oral history project with Kirby Fenwick, funded by the Public Records Office of Victoria about the history of women’s football from 1975 - 2001

  • I am doing an unofficial Feb Fast (no alcohol), yoga, running, riding my ebike whenever I can, and planning some overnight hikes.
